We’ve been hearing a lot recently about Samsung possibly re-releasing the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 in emerging markets with a smaller, 3200mAh battery. While we have yet to see this rumor sprout into anything, one thing is for certain: the handset won’t be launching in India.

In a new statement given to Gadget360 regarding the relaunch of the Note 7 in India, a Samsung representative in India said the following:

The report on Samsung planning to sell refurbished Galaxy Note 7 smartphone[s] in India is incorrect.

This indicates that while the Galaxy Note 7 may relaunch, it won’t do so in India. Therefore, not all hope is lost for the 5.7-inch smartphone that has grown to be known as the phone that blows up. Of course, we still don’t know for certain that the phone will ever see a sign of life ever again, but at least Samsung’s confirmation doesn’t entirely shoot down the rumors.
