Microsoft has announced that the Creators Update for Windows 10 – currently said to be arriving this April for all – is now ‘feature complete,’ meaning the latest build of the update, version number 15031, includes everything the Creators Update will minus the bugs. In addition, the company has announced a few additional features and changes they’ve added in the new preview build now available to Fast ring users.

For starters, a new feature called Compact Overlay allows you to watch movies or view a Skype video call while doing your work via a small floating window that’ll always remain in front of all other windows. This works just like picture-in-picture mode in iOS and Android by allowing users to stream content while performing other operations on their computer. It’ll be up to developers to add the functionality to their apps, so let’s cross our fingers that Compact Overlay is requested enough to receive a prominent spot in developers’ priority list.

Next up, Dynamic Lock has popped up in this build of Windows 10 which allows users to connect a Bluetooth device to their PC or laptop and allow their computer to automatically unlock. This works similarly to how Smart Lock on Android works by identifying trusted BT devices, so if you have a certain mouse or pair of headphones you always use, this feature may be pretty helpful.

Finally, a fresh Share button is present in the Creators Update. It’s a subtle change but will make the experience more visually appealing.

We expect the Creators Update to launch in full sometime in April, so stay tuned to MBEDDED for further developments leading up to this point.
