Last night, Samsung finally gave us the skinny on why the Galaxy Note 7 kept exploding. They were sincere and honest with us during their apology, but it remained unclear whether they’d ever use the Note branding or not. Yes, the company stated they’d work on bringing trust back to the brand, but that was a lowsy confirmation as any. Therefore, CNET dug a bit deeper during an interview with CEO DJ Koh, and unsurprisingly, he says Samsung will be releasing a Galaxy Note 8 which will reportedly be “better” and “safer” than the Note 7.

“I will bring back a better, safer and very innovative Note 8,” Koh said.

That’s all the information we have at this time, but at least we know the device is coming. In terms of time frame, it’s unclear whether Samsung will release the Note 8 a year after the Note 7 exploded or wait it out until 2018. Either way, the company will need to rebuild consumer’s trust and hopefully convince everyone their not in the business of building explosive smartphones.
