In the latest update to the app, Google has made it possible for anyone with a smartphone running Android Lollipop or higher to use Android Auto regardless of which car model they have. This works by simulating the built-in UI found on vehicles that have Auto inside right on one’s phone screen to quickly be able to control your music, answer phone calls, and interact with other elements quickly and more efficiently.

When I say anyone can use Android Auto, I mean it. All you have to do is simply download v2.0 of the Android Auto app to your Android smartphone and launch it. That’s it. You don’t need Bluetooth, you don’t need some fancy equipment – heck, you don’t even need to plug your phone into your car’s charging port. You literally start up the app and start driving. Just make sure you put your phone in a good, safe spot first, of course.

Here’s some screenshots of the UI you’ll see when you use Android Auto via the app and your phone. Spoiler: it works in portrait orientation too.

If you’d like to use Android Auto with your phone in your car, click here to download the latest version from the Play Store. Alternatively, you can click here to download the APK from APK Mirror.
